🤯 Often first bills cause a headache, so let's make things simple and explain why your first bill is higher.
👉 One-Time Costs, No Worries: On page 3 of your bill, or on the charges overview section in the billing portal, you'll see connection charges which covers one-time costs like activation fees, routers, and deliveries.
No need to stress – you're already a step ahead with your payments. Your bill PDF will show on page 1 'Balance brought forward' which will likely show a negative balance (like -£58.95), adjusting the Total Amount Due show on page 1. You won't be charged twice for your actication fee as your payment is deducted off your bill.
👉 Service Charges and Line Rental: Next stop: service charges, like your broadband package. This includes a month of services in advance so you're first bill will be likely higher because of this.
The charges will cover from when your service was activated until the month's end (yes, in arrears) plus the current month, in advance.
Here's an example: If you were activated on 15th of the month, your first bill would cover from 15th until the end of the month, plus the whole of next month.
Around 1st of every month, you'll receive your monthly bill which will cover your package in advance for that month. So you pay for the whole month you are going to have services.
👉 VAT: Oh, and don't forget our buddy VAT! 😉 Our prices already include it, so if your charges seems surprisingly lower, that's the VAT magic at play. You'll find the VAT amount on the first page of your bill and this is then added into the total, giving you a total package price to match what we quoted you.
