Setting up your Full Fibre router to OFNL's Network๐ŸŒ

Ready to unleash the full potential of your new full fibre connection? Perfect! Let's walk through the steps to get your router up and running smoothly, minus the tech jargon.

Step 1: Unbox the Essentials ๐Ÿ“ฆ

Take a moment to unbox your new Home Unity router. Inside, you'll find the essential components โ€“ power adapter, router, red ethernet cable, and a yellow ethernet cable. Simple, right?

Step 2: Find your OFNL Modem ๐ŸŒ

Look and find your OFNL modem (see below), often found in cloakrooms, under the stairs or in little white plastic cupboards in your home. This modem should have a power cable connected (don't forget to check it's turned on) and the first light on the top left should be green (that's the circle with the lines and 3 dots at the end).

If the light on your modem isn't yet green, check your emails from us to see when your activation date is, as it may not go green until the day of your activation.

If there are no lights on the modem, make sure the power is turned on (either at the wall or using the On/Off button on the modem).

If your OFNL modem doesn't look like this, you may have one that says ZTE or Nokia on it instead, which you should use.

Step 3: Connect the Dots ๐Ÿ”„

Take the provided red ethernet cable and connect one end to the WAN port (the blue one) on the back of your Home Unity router (that's the picture below on the left), and the other end to the LAN port (the yellow one) on the OFNL modem (that's the picture below on the right). It's the digital handshake that establishes the connection โ€“ easy peasy.

If you have a ZTE/Nokia modem, take the provided red ethernet cable and connect one end to the WAN port (the blue one) on the back of your Home Unity router (that's the picture below on the left), and the other end to the LAN1 port (the yellow one) on the ZTE modem.

Step 4: Power It Up! โšก

Plug in the router to power it up. The lights will do their dance, signalling that your internet connection is in business. Within a few minutes, you should see the first 3 lights on your router (from left to right) go green; that's the power light (the circle with a line through the top), the WAN light (the oval shape with an arrow) and the internet light (the globe).

If the power light doesn't go green, press the ON/OFF button on the back of the router and wait a minute, then the lights should go green.

Step 5: Link Up Your Devices to Wi-Fi๐Ÿ“ฑ

Locate the network name (Wireless SSID) and password (Wireless Password) found on the back of your router. Use these details to connect your devices to the Wi-Fi. Soon, all your gadgets will be happily online.

If you can't see the Home Unity network name on your device's Wi-Fi, check the 2.4G and 5G lights are green on the router. If they're not, press the WIFI ON/OFF button on the back of your router.

You can slide out the Wi-Fi Keep Me Card from the router and keep this somewhere safe (the plastic card on the back of the router with your network name and password). Say goodbye to going to your router every time you connect a new device! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Step 6: Link Up your Devices to Ethernet ๐Ÿ’ป

If you prefer connecting your devices using a wired cable, simply connect one end of the yellow ethernet cable to any of the 4 LAN ports (the yellow ones) on the back of your router, then connect the other end to your device and away you go!

Step 7: Test Your Connection ๐ŸŒ

Time for a quick check! Test your connection speed to make sure everything is running smoothly (you can find a useful how-to blog here). If you encounter any hiccups, don't hesitate to reach out for assistance through our Contact Us page.
