How to configure your Zyxel router after a factory reset

Factory reset your router and your internet is offline? Here is how to reconfigure your router

Before we start, you'll need your PPP Username and Password from Home Unity (we'll provide this to you).

Step 1: Connect to your router

Make sure your computer, tablet, or phone is connected to the Zyxel router. You can connect via Wi-Fi or use an Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Access the router settings

  1. Open a web browser (like Chrome, Edge, or Safari).

  2. In the address bar, type: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

  3. You'll be asked to log in.

    • Username: admin

    • Password: (use the password shown on the grey panel on the back of your router, called Login Password).

Tip: If you’ve changed these login details and can’t remember them, you may need to reset your router.

Step 3: Enter your PPP details

  1. Once logged in, it may ask you to change your password - Keep pressing skip until you get to this pageScreenshot 2025-05-01 171802

  2. Once logged in, look for the 3 lines (the menu bar) in the top right

  3. Then click on or Network Settings section in the menu

  4. Select Broadband.

  5. Here you'll see 3 rows (or columns, depending on your device) that say ADSL, VDSL or ETHWAN. Depending on what service you are on, will depend on the option

    1. If you are on Full Fibre (Your router connects to a modem using an ethernet cable), this is ETHWAN
    2. If you are on Part Fibre (Your router connects to a telephone socket and you have fibre speeds (20-80Mbps), this is VDSL
    3. If you are on Copper (Your router connects to a telephone socket and you have speeds of 1-24Mbps)
  6. Click the Modify button (that's the square with the pencil)

  7. Make sure Encapsulation is set to PPPoE, unless you are on copper, in which case it should be PPPOA.
  8. In the PPP Username and PPP Password fields:

    1. Enter the username and password provided by Home Unity.

  9. Click Apply.

Step 4: Check your connection

Your router will then update, so give it a minute to reconnect. You should then be back online.
